The Change of seasons

Now that we’ve entering into the colder months we need to start preparing for what comes with it. Colds and the flu, stiff joints, aches and pains etc.

I decided to take a quick break from my certification course and do a quick study on oils for colds and flu. Getting ready with steam blends, inhalers, rubs, bath bombs and shower melts.

Since I have kids at various ages I need my blends to be at different dilution rates. The 2 year old needs a lower dilution than the 7 year old, and the 7 year old needs a different one from the 12 year old etc.

I love that I am able to make this for my family, and make sure that everyone will be safe while they use it.

Next I’ll need to go purchase some elderberries too, to get some syrup ready for the winter. With Joshua potentially bringing different “bugs” home from school every day we need to make sure we’re on the defensive.

I knew that the cold nights were coming so I harvested the last of the tomatoes, eggplants, squash, kale, chard, apples and peppers. It’s sad to see the plants die in the cold but they’ve given us a lot. Some will come up again next spring, like my monster kale. I had to literally wash them in the bathtub because there was so much, and unfortunately there were a lot of aphids 😠

Now we need to go and cook up some apples into applesauce, slice some apples to freeze, bake cookies for a wedding, and get ready for a road trip.

Lord thank you for all these blessings you have bestowed upon us.
