So my oldest decided to finish high school at a charter school rather than at home. He doesn’t have his driver’s license yet, about another week or so until he’s done and can take the test, so I’ve been getting up at 6:20 to get ready to drive him to school. It isn’t natural for me to get up that early in the morning 🙂 but I’ve been trying to use the extra hours in my day to be productive and do my classes. I’m doing ok but my brain isn’t quite awake until later in the morning, so I’m doing my classes earlier in the day but not as early as I could.
I have been learning about the Monoterpenol rich oils lately and doing blending activities using only those oils. I really do enjoy learning about the different chemical families and the constituents or components, and the chemical structures of each one, how many carbon bonds etc. Learning what the oils consist of and how it affects our bodies makes them even more interesting, also how concentrated they are and how little you actually need to reach the benefits you seek.
I made a sprain and strain lotion and a scar healing lotion, I chose the oils, calculated the dilution rate I thought it needed, chose which oils I thought I needed more or less of, and sniffed to see if it was pleasant or not and adjusted accordingly. My family has been my “guinea pigs” to see if what I’m making actually works or not, I’ve had some good results and some so so. But the good thing about oils is that they’ll always have benefits even though they might not be the ones you were hoping for.
I try to treat the oils with the respect they deserve and make sure we use them safely, the oils are so potent so if you don’t use them safely you can cause irreversible damage to yourself or your loved ones. Also when you start to think about the amount of plant material that goes into just one drop of oil, it makes you look at this from a different perspective.
Now off to learning about Sesquiterpenols 🙂
